Awesome stuff. Keeps me entertained at work… Cheers for pointing out some very obvious similarities in some very obscure sides of the musical spectrum!

blimey - Muse totally ripped the Pixies off!
Worst offenders are Green Day and Coldplay by far - am so surprised they haven’t been dragged to court by someone

yeah… Muse, practically took the same song, they just put in a new txt… The song is still good though…
Green Day and Coldplay are thiefs, nothing more… Green day covers and steal everything… Theyr “most” famous song, “Bouleward of broken Dreams” is just the same as another song, by “The Old Men Is Rising In The West”- “Road of broken dreams”, te txt is practically identical….

Cool list, and good choice of artwork.
John Lennon once said “All music is rehash. There are only a few notes, Just variations on a theme.”
A fair few of these soundalikes are based on similar chord progressions.
I think I may try making a play list where all the songs are based on one type of chord progression. Oh yes

thanks exliontamer - poor old Lennon has been rehashed himself by the Gallaghers - shame there’s no Beatles or Oasis on Spotify as could have done one on those exclusively!

Ain’t that the truth. Oasis are hacks. Good songwriting should be about combining your ‘influences’ artfully fo sho.

Well done for this playlist, some of them are VERY similar, they’re bordering on plagurism !!!, they’ve probabley only got away with it because you don’t work for a record company!!
Good work Momma, (and a good playlist on its own merits)
Bring on part 2.

Wow - thanks guys
Part two is a-go-go
The text part went a bit wonky after submission but each song follows on to its soundalike
Enjoy!

Good idea for a playlist!
Lostprophets managed to completely rip off the All-American Rejects song ‘I’m Waiting’ with their song ‘Cant Stop, Gotta Date With Hate’. The pre-chorus of both songs is very similar, while the chorus is pretty much exactly the same!

Superb list. Your knowledge is very impressive and the links are spot on - some are even “wow I kinda knew that”, but didn’t have the brains to work it out.

It would be fairer to say Ghostbusters sounds more like I want a new drug, since Huey Lewis successfully sued Parker for copying, I believe …

great idea - too bad that the execution is so sloppy - if you would just pick the music that actually had the same chord schemes or the same riffs…. this is just “hey… this text sounds like this one” - or “I hear two songs which have a bleep in them… total ripoff”
a bit more groundwork could have made the list a LOT better.
