Get your Carnival Weekend off to an early start with this playlist of tracks produced by the mighty Diplo! The Diplo sound is characterized by two main influences – Jamaican Dancehall and the ‘Baile Funk’ sound of the Brazilian Favelas making it the perfect soundtrack to any carnival party!

Diplo’s a great producer in his own right and since first pairing up with M.I.A. back in 2004 has worked with an increasingly high profile set of artists such including Santigold, Robyn and Alex Clare before really stepping up into the major leagues around 2011 with his work on records by Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Usher, Lil Wayne & even Justin Bieber.

In 2010, he also teamed up with kindred spirit and fellow producer Switch on the Major Lazer project which saw the duo head to Jamaica to record an album that (much like his previous work) would highlight the lesser-known sub-genres of Jamaica’s Dancehall scene. Diplo described the Dancehall sound as being ” the end of the world, all the little influences—House, Soca, Oldies, R&B, jazz—it all ends up in Jamaica”

In between his gigs as a producer and a recording artist in his own right, Diplo also manages to find time to run his own label, Mad Decent which has been responsible for releasing music by Santigold, Rusko, Buraka Som Sistema as well as his own solo output. ...show less
