Green Day is an American Arena rock band formed in California in 1987. Then under the name Sweet Children. The band consists of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass) and Tre Cool (drums). Since their sixth album Warning Jason White has played guitar and Jason Freese played keyboards with the band, but they do not count as official members. Green Days success has influenced and paved the way for countless of today’s punk-inspired band.

They got their big international breakthrough in 1994 with the disc Dookie. The single Longview became breakthrough song, even if singles Basket Case and When I Come Around is perhaps the most famous. Dookie is not only the band’s best-selling album to date, but also the best selling punk album ever [1] and has sold over 15 million copies since it was released. [2]

Their second best-selling album American Idiot, 2004, was received well by both critics of the audience. It has sold 14 one million discs worldwide [3] and in 2005 won the band two Grammy Awards for ”Best Rock Album” and ”Record of the Year”. For the MTV Video Music Awards was the nominee to eight prizes, and won seven of them. They won two prizes at the MTV Europe Music Awards the same year in the categories ”Best Rock” and ”Best Album”.

Green Day has sold over 85 one million albums, including 30 million in the U.S., making them the biggest punk / rock band ever. [4]

2006 Green Day started a cooperation with the environmental NRDC.

The band played in 2006 in the voice track to the strip movie Live Freaky! Die Freaky! where Billie Joe makes the voice of Charles Manson. The movie was about the murders that Charles made.

Jason Mraz (pronounced /məˈræz/, born June 23, 1977) is an American singer-songwriter, born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Mraz’s stylistic influences include reggae, pop, rock, folk, jazz, and hip hop.

Franz Ferdinand are a rock band that formed in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2002. The band is composed of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals and guitar), Bob Hardy (bass guitar), Nick McCarthy (rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing vocals) and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals).
A band seriously not recognised enough for their brilliance.
