Why should I create an account?
By registering on ShareMyPlaylists.com you can gain the following additional features:
- Automatically have Spotify playlists you submit linked to your account
- Create a favourite Spotify playlists list so you (and others) can view your favourite playlists from anywhere in the world
- Join in group discussions and create your own discussion group about something you are interested in
- Ability to choose any avatar so others can ’see’ who you are
- Private message other ShareMyPlaylists.com users who have similar interests to you
- Ability to have your own blog on ShareMyPlaylists.com where all users of the site can see what YOU have to say
How do I create an account?
At the top of EVERY page there is a “sign up” button - click on this and then pop in your details on the registration page. The more information you put in your profile page the more likely it is someone will find you and start chatting.
What difference is there between getting just a username without a blog?
You only need to register a user name to get all the ShareMyPlaylists.com membership benefits but if you want to start making your opinions heard then register for a blog and start telling the world what you think. The blogs are all manged and hosted on our servers so you can forget about having to worry about security, updating software etc as they will just work for as long as you want your blog (subject to our terms and conditions here).
How do I submit a playlist on ShareMyPlaylists.com?
Click on the “Submit your Playlist” image at the top of every page and this will open a new area where you can enter your playlist information
- Spotify URL - enter the HTTP link of your Spotify playlist in this box
- Playlist title - enter the name of your playlist
- Your Name - enter the name you want this playlist submitted under. NOTE if you are logged in your name will automatically be added
- Valid Email (subscribe to mailing list) - enter your email address to subscribe to our newsletter
- Description - Enter some notes on why your playlist rocks
- Add Playlist Cover Art - click browse, pick a playlist image from your computer then press Upload Now to store this image on our server
- Genre - Pick the main musical Genre your playlist fits under
- Send - Click the send button to submit your playlist. Note, your playlist will not appear immediately
How long does it take for my playlist to be published?
Every playlist that is submitted to ShareMyPlaylists.com that has the required fields completed goes into our moderation que where we make sure it is ok before we publish it on the site. This means there will be a delay of up to 5 minutes before your playlist is published. We have chosen to take the human, editorial review route to prevent spam and also so you know you are not going to click on some hidden link within a playlist that has automatically tricked the filters we also have in place.
How do I edit a playlist that I have already submitted?
You can edit any playlist title or playlist description you have submitted to ShareMyPlaylists.com by clicking on the
pencil icon at the right hand side of these areas. Once you have made your edits just click on the “save” button and the playlist will be updated. If you want to change or add / remove a playlist image click on the “change image” link under the playlsit image when viewing a playlist you have submitted. This will open a file upload window where you can select a new playlist image by clicking the “browse” button. Once you select the image on your computer you want to use then click “upload” and the image will be stored on our server temporarily. To save this new image to your playlist click “send” to post and your playlist’s image will be updated.
How do I add or remove a playlist to my favorites list?
If you are logged into your ShareMyPlaylists.com account then on ANY Spotify playlist page you will see a Add to favourites link with a star image next to it - click on this and you will be able to retrieve this at a later date from the Playlists area of your profile.
To remove a playlist from your favourites simply click on the Remove from favourites link with a transparent star image next to it.
How do I rate a playlist?
Simply hover your cursor over the 5 mini icons you see next to each playlist and click to give it a rating between 1 and 5. A 1 rating means you really didn’t like it and a 5 rating means you thought it rocked!

Your ShareMyPlaylists.com account is your identity on the site and is a very powerful yet personal thing. You have the ability to build up an online musical profile so others can see and hear exactly what makes you YOU! Being powerful means the first time you use your account you might get a little lost but use the following help guide and contacting either Admin Kieron of Admin Andy you will have the most complete Spotify musical account on the web!
- Activity - Activity streams aggregate all of your activity across ShareMyPlaylists.com All of your friends activity is also recorded so you can check what others are doing on the site. Wire posts, blogs posts, new friendships and blog comments are among the most popular activities recorded.
- Profile - This is YOUR public ShareMyPlaylists.com face and as such should be as complete as possible so others can see what makes you tick.
- Blogs - If you have created a ShareMyPlaylists.com blog you can see this listed here, see your recent posts, see recent comments or create a new blog. For detailed WordPress Blog instructions please look here
- Wire - The wire is a place where friends and other ShareMyPlaylists.com members can come along and post messages to your wire.
- Messages - ShareMyPlaylists.com private messaging works like internal site email. Members can message people on their friends list as well as forward and reply to received messages. Each member has their own individual Inbox, Sent box, and Drafts folder. They will be notified of new messages by a new message count as well as email notifications if enabled. Sending of messages to multiple friends, as well as site wide messages by an administrator are also possible.
- Friends - ShareMyPlaylists.com Members can be connected together by one member adding another as a “friend” and then the other member accepting the friendship request. Each member has a visible list of their friends on the site. Friends lists are browsable and members can click on each friend to see more information - or add them as their own friend. The ability to search for members by and piece of profile information is also included in with the built in members directory.
- Groups - Groups on ShareMyPlaylists.com are a gathering of members, wires posts and forum topics. Any member can create a group on ShareMyPlaylists.com. Whoever starts a ShareMyPlaylists.com group becomes that groups administrator meaing they have heightened privileges within that group. Every group includes a place for group information, and the latest group news which can be kept up to date my group administrators. Groups also include a group forum, and wire where group members can engage in discussions. These features can be selectively enabled by the group creator (administrator).
- Settings - Change your password in here. Also change your Email notification settings such as when someone messages you etc
- Playlists - Here you will see ALL the Spotify playlists you have submitted to ShareMyPlaylists.com as well as any playlists you have added to your favourite list.

Writing a new post
- Log in to your ShareMyPlaylists.com account (at the top of this screen).
- Hover your mouse over the My Blogs header and click on the New Post option.
- Start filling in the blanks.
- Give your blog entry (post) a nice title
- As needed, select a category, add tags, and make other selections from the sections below the post.
- When you are ready, click Publish.
Editing an existing post
- Log in to your ShareMyPlaylists.com account (at the top of this screen).
- Hover your mouse over the My Blogs header and click on the Manage Posts option.
- Start editing your blog post.
- When you are ready, click Update Post.
Adding a featured post at the top of your blog
- Log in to your ShareMyPlaylists.com account (at the top of this screen).
- Hover your mouse over the My Blogs header and click on the Manage Posts option.
- Scroll right to the bottom of the edit post page and place a tick in the box saying This is a really cool entry, Feature it!
- When you are ready, click Update Post.
Adding a small image in the featured posts section
- You will have to create a custom field called “thumbnail” in write/edit posts and paste the full url to a 161×107 px image
Adding your Twittter account to your blog
- Simply enter your twitter ID in the TweetMeBlue options page
Using Spotify
How to create a Spotify playlist
- Go to “File” on the Spotify toolbar then choose “New Playlist”.
- This will create a new playlist in the left hand navigation pane, you can rename it anything you want.
- When playing your favourite songs simply right click and then choose “Save to” and the name of your playlist
- You’re done! All of your favourite tracks will be saved into the playlist.

How to share your Spotify playlist with the world using ShareMyPlaylists.com
- In the left hand navigation pane of Spotify, hover your mouse over the playlist you wish to share and right click it then select “Copy HTTP Link”
- This will save the Spotify URL into your clipboard. So whenever you choose “paste” it will copy.
- So now go to the homepage of ShareMyPlaylists.com and click on the “Submit your Playlist”
- This will open a window, in the “Spotify URL” field simply paste your Spotify URL from step 2. It will look something like this: http://open.spotify.com/user/kieron/playlist/77zouK8SJuiMnmC1j9ISf6
- Complete the rest of the fields as requested and then click “send”
- Tip: In the description box if you list the names of the artists and tracks on your playlist it will make them easier to find for other users
