Visioneers
Marc Mac is better known as one half of 4hero, the duo that founded legendary drum & bass label Reinforced Records and changed the shape of UK electronic music. Production credits include tracks for Jill Scott, Vikter Duplaix, Ultra Naté, Terry Callier, Ursula Rucker, and Shaun Escoffery, to name a few and he has a long list of remixes under his belt from Masters At Work to John Coltrane. Marc explains: "The Visioneers idea was in my head long before we recorded the first record. Visioneers is not a band its a studio project. I want to pay respect to hip-hop producers like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jay Dee and Pete Rock for introducing me to Jazz and I needed to produce the tracks like hip hop records that sound phat in a club and not like dinner Jazz, its about reclaiming Jazz." Marc started releasing a set of limited 7" singles getting the attention of some the top eclectic DJ's including DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kenny Dope, Gilles Peterson, & Norman Jay. Visioneers was then picked up by BBE records who released the debut album Dirty Old Hip Hop, with great success.
Following on from the success of "Dirty Old Hip Hop," Marc returns with a new Visioneers record titled Hipology. "Hipology is a collage of some of my personal influences as a DJ/Producer growing up listening to Hip Hop; a real eclectic mix of Breaks, Beats, Soul, Jazz, and freaky squeaks and not a sampler in sight. Visioneers is about revisiting my love for Hip Hop; What is was and what it is; the musical influences and the culture..." Hipology was released on Bbe Records, on June 12, 2012, and features guest spots from John Robinson, TRAC & Baron, Notes to Self, Luke Parkhouse, & The Ariya Horns.. ...show less
