Rubio turned to acting in soap operas on Televisa. She landed her first role in 1988, as a villain in Pasion y poder ("Passion and Power"). In 1990 she starred in "Baila Conmigo", and in 1994 she made her film debut in the low-budget Mexican film called "Bésame en la Boca" and in 1995 she starred in the Soap Opera "Pobre Niña Rica" (Poor Rich Girl). In 1990, Rubio left Timbiriche and focused on launching a solo career.
