In 1974, Williams starred in the satirical musical film Phantom of the Paradise, for which he also composed music. A frequent cowriter of Williams was musician Kenneth Ascher; their songs together included popular children's favorite "Rainbow Connection", sung by Kermit The Frog in The Muppet Movie.
