His characteristics are bleached blonde hair, feminine make-up and glamorous fashion. Personally he has released 6 solo albums & 1 live album: Nights Are So Long, Not Fakin' It, Peace of Mind, Life Gets You Dirty, Whatcha Want, Sensory Overdrive and Another Night in the Sun: Live in Helsinki. He has also played in Jerusalem Slim and Demolition 23. In 2010, after Monroe had left Hanoi Rocks, he formed a new band working under his name.

The Michael Monroe band features Michael Monroe (vocals), David "Ginger" Walls (guitar), Steve Conte (guitar), Sami Yaffa (bass) and Karl Rockfist (drums). The band is working on their first album.
