Mama's Jasje was founded in 1990 in it's original formation: Peter Vanlaet, Ben Destrycker, Herman Van Molle and Steven De Corte. Mama's Jasje was founded in 1990 in it's original formation: Peter Vanlaet, Ben Destrycker, Herman Van Molle and Steven De Corte. After a successful scouting from label "Play That Beat", they are offered a record deal. Their first radio hits are "Morgen zal het anders zijn" and "God In Frankrijk". The real success story of Mama's Jasje begins after the monster hit "Zo Ver Weg" and the following full CD "Paradijs op Aarde", which both turn platina almost instantly.

The second album, "Letters en Lawaai" is also a number one hit. After the third album, the original formation ceases to exist in 1993. In the same year Mama's Jasje is reborn when lead singer Peter Vanlaet finds a soul mate in Gunter Van Campenhout. In the meantime they build a fantastic reputation as a live band and they perform on many festivals like Marktrock (Leuven) and Maanrock (Mechelen).

In 1996 Peter Vanlaet takes a break from Mama's Jasje to write an autobiographic solo-album, "Hartslag". In 1997 Mama's Jasje has a golden idea: revive the old Dutch pop songs in an up-to-date version. The success is instantly and the group releases hit singles like "Als de Dag van Toen", which remains at the top of the hit list for 16 successive weeks.
