Madalena was born in Lisbon and moved to London on her own when she was 17 after being offered a scholarship for a degree course in performing arts. At this point in time, Madalena was already an established actress in the West End after performing in such shows as Fame, Chicago, Zorro the Musical and Over the Threshold.
