The band formed in Leicester. Drummer Ben and guitarist Dan met in their school playground aged 10. Bonding over music and making mixtapes for each other naturally turned in to making music and they got together with bassist Chris while still at school. Dan's little sister Leanne insisted on joining after discovering the finer things in life on a summer trip to Amsterdam.

The quartet moved to North London where they share a house, write songs and do the being in a band in London thing. Kyoshi, in case you were wondering, is taken from a Zen word that Leanne read wrong. It means 'we are one'.
