Joseph Hill “Joss” Whedon (born June 23, 1964) is a writer, director, executive producer, and creator of several television series, most famously Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse. In film he wrote and directed 2005's "Serenity," based on his television series Firefly. and the movie adaptation of Marvel's "The Avengers" which will be released in the summer of 2012. Additionally he has written/co-written two musicals. One an episode of Buffy, "Once more with feeling" and the other a stand-alone web release "Dr. Horribles sing-along blog". Many of Whedon's projects, as well as Whedon himself, enjoy a cult status.
He was educated at Winchester College in England and received a film degree from Wesleyan University in 1987.
