Captain Bud

Their high-energy shows are an awesome experience, one minute you're witnessing the madness of a full scale mosh pit and the next you're grooving to a deep dub bass line with the smell of ganja in the air. Taking influences from the Californian reggae punk scene where bands like Sublime, Rancid, NoFx and Slightly Stoopid were spawned, the Kingston dub vibes of Lee Scratch Perry, the aloha surf sounds of Jack Johnson, and of course the politcly charged anger of UK punk rock! The band has managed to forge its own unique sound and party vibe that any one can be part of. In 2006 the band released its first independent EP entitled "Charlie Don't Surf" this rough demo was received well by reviewers and fans alike. Then came 2007's full length release "Wicked Woman" this went down very well with Independent label Pipeline Records who decided to release it world-wide on download sites such as Napster and iTunes, showing the band were not just a crazy live act but accomplished song writers and mature musicians.
Constantly gaining new fans and with a fresh new line-up consisting of the two original members Si Short (Guitar & Vocals) and Steve Dredge (bass) alonside two new members - Bean (Sax/Guitar/Backing Vocals) and Davz (Drums), Captain Bud have never sounded better than right now! Always working hard with a DIY aproach, the Bud are set to release the third CD "Unite" this year as well as a spring/summer tour. With the help of good friends, crazy fans and some kick ass bands, Captain Bud seem to be on a mission to build the UK rock reggae scene brick by brick.. ...show less
