A Thousand Lights

Started by schoolmates Dee Lyster and Stu Winstanley in September 2009, they began writing songs on acoustic guitars but decided that this was not enough. Stu acquired the services from long standing drumming friend Si Woodhams, who he had previously played with in Sabotage. All that was left was to find a bass player, luckily college brought Stu's attention to the beautiful bass tones of Josh Glover, and it was soon decided after a few practices, that he was the one for the band. 2 days later and the first EP entitled "Demon Sky's, Angel Lives" was complete and all this before a single gig! With an EP launch booked in early December 2009, A Thousand Lights set about filling their set with cover songs. The EP was launched to a capacity audience and 100 copies of the EP were sold that night, a great start to the beginning of an era which can only get better. 2010 saw the band start to play main support slots at gigs including the Wheatus 10th anniversary tour at the Quarterhouse, Folkestone. This has led to gigs at the Hoxton Pony (famous for Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith, The Libertines performing there), the Bridgehouse2 (where Pink Floyd and Led Zep played).

A Thousand Lights went back into the studio to record their 2nd EP in May 2010. Entitled 'Giving Up This Town' it featured the bands best work to date, and although it is available to download from the likes of iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and more, an EP launch night is set to schedule for early 2011, where you will also be able to see the launch of the official video to 'Giving Up This Town' At the beginning of 2011, A Thousand Lights parted company with Simon, leaving the band searching for a new drummer. They called upon the services of one of Josh's old band mates Neil Davey to help fill in for shows, but it was soon immediate that Neil was the right man to fill the vacant drum stool and asked him to join full time. The band intend on hitting the studio sometime around the summer of 2011 to record some exciting new songs and look forward to the year ahead! Everywhere that A Thousand Lights play, you will be sure that you will leave the gig with the songs still playing in your head and they will still be for weeks to come!. ...show less
