Synthpop may not have been born in the USA, but there have been synthpop and electro bands from both the US and Canada since the mid-80s. Fast-forward to this century and you'll find it's alive and kicking, albeit in a rockier style compared with the British and European scene.
Perhaps due to Spotify's current absense from the US, there aren't too many American and Canadian synthpop bands available to build a playlist with. Notably absent are all the A Different Drum artists (the US's premiere synthpop label). Consequently this playlist doubles-up the artists (i.e there are two songs from each) and occasionally strays a little into electroclash and regular electronica. There's still some great tracks here though, most from albums or singles released in the past year or so.
