It's been a while since my last 'Rough Guide' Playlist, but I thought I'd tackle a genre within a genre.
Filthstep, Brostep, Gorestep are all bastard offspring of the relatively new Dubstep movement, which in turn is a bastard offspring of Dub & Garage. It can be faster, more industrial, more aggressive and less organic sounding than the original sound of Dubstep, but usually follows the same basic structure.
You can class everything in this playlist as Dubstep, but to someone who maybe listens to Pinch, Benga, Skream and the like this is not worthy of the Dubstep tag.
Music snobs can be found within every scene and unfortunately Dubstep is no different to the others.
